Kilns were used to fire shape clay elements such as bricks, amphorae, etc. In the game, clay must first be mined. This must then be pressed into molds to produce bricks. These are then molded in brickworks. Afterward, the player receives bricks, which are needed for most buildings.
Since you have to produce many bricks, I have already installed the second kiln in the game. The first one is based on a kiln from Vindonissa. This one is supposed to have a slightly higher capacity and to enhance the townscape by not just building one type of kiln.
Research
The kiln reproduced here is based on the floor plans of the kiln in Gegenbach Germany [Google Maps click here].
On-site, there is an information board with a sketch. Without violating any copyrights, I have oriented myself to the sketch but made small changes.
Information about the ground plan and the excavation I found here: [click here]. I have seen theaters, arenas, and hypocausts dozens of times. That’s why I like to go to places where there are buildings that are not shown in every Roman museum. So I was really looking forward to this very small excavation.
Is it worth a visit?
No. The area is beautiful, quiet and nature is amazing. But apart from the few reconstructed walls, you can’t see anything.
