Pax Augusta video Game:
recreate the Roman Empire!

A crazy idea

For too long I waited for the release of a new Roman city builder. Nothing happened. My motto in life has always been:

“Accept something or change it, complaining doesn’t help. “

So I decided to take the problem into my own hands. I sat down and thought about how I could develop a computer game myself. Looking back, I know that I massively underestimated the effort and complexity.

I taught myself how to program it myself, so to speak. I bought a lot of books, studied YouTube tutorials for hours and constantly tried new things. I have done the same with 3D modeling, working intensively on the models to perfect them. In January 2019 I decided to start with my own game.

AND THEn EVERYTHING WAS LOST

In July 2019 my hard disk suddenly crashed. I was stunned. 6 months of hard work were gone because I forgot to make a backup.

For a moment, I was like depressed. But my will was stronger. I really wanted to have the game. On August 01, 2019 I started all over again

Later I realized that I was lucky in misfortune because the game was programmed so complicated at that time that it was extremely difficult to find the errors. Since I was able to start the project from scratch again, I built the program code cleaner and more readable this time.

modeling roman cities

My aim is to create the game that I always wanted to play. My love for detail led me to create buildings as close as possible to the original ones. After all, a Roman city is not only made of marble buildings.

“Dirty streets, smoking chimneys, a noisy city: This is exactly the atmosphere I want to convey in this game.”

80% of the buildings actually existed. The floor plans were copied about 50 cm exactly. The colors and patterns also correspond to the original buildings. The players should also be able to recreate these realistic works.

I have visited over 50 Roman museums and excavation sites and have done extensive research. I bought a 300-page book just to find out what Roman river ports looked like. Sometimes I felt like I was the only one who was interested in windows and chimneys when visiting a Roman museum. But it’s exactly these details that I attach great importance to and I want this to be expressed in the game.

Release date is approaching

How does the game work?
You start with simple buildings and then with a little skill you can build better and more magnificent buildings. Since you are not the only city in your province, you can compete with other cities for the title “province capital”. This in turn privileges the player to manage buildings that can only be built in provincial capitals.

“Create your empire and strive for the emperor’s favor!”

The game release is approaching. Don’t miss the launch date and add Pax Augusta Game to your wishlist on Steam and sign in to our newsletter!
