Limes Museum Alen

Limes Museum Alen

The Limes Museum Alen is a modern, top refurbished museum [Google Maps Link]. The museum is partly built over Kastel Alen and was certainly used as a camp for mounted auxiliary troops.

During my visit, I discovered many objects that I have never seen in any museum before. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to publish any photos here for copyright reasons.

In addition to the modern museum, there is a partially reconstructed troop accommodation in the inner courtyard (a similar, somewhat smaller accommodation can be visited in Vindonissa (Switzerland)). You can also see the foundation walls of the staff building in the park. As you move around the park, you really become aware of how big the building actually is. For me, the construction crane was particularly worth seeing. I used it as inspiration for the construction cranes in the game, because it is very well reproduced.

IS IT WORTH A VISIT?

Yes, the museum is very modern with many objects like handcuffs etc. that I have never seen before. But the outside area is also impressive.
