In the canton of Bern (Switzerland) near Studen, the remains of a Gallo-Roman temple complex can be found on a hill. Gallo-Roman means that the Gallic and Roman cultures merged together. The Romans allowed the locals to worship their own gods in addition to the Roman gods. However, only under the condition that the emperor would not be questioned. This is why the Christians were originally persecuted.
From the settlement “Petinesca”, today you can only see the temple district. The temple complex can be found here [Google Maps Link]. You can park comfortably in front of the driving ban [Google Maps Link].
You can find the ground plans of several Gallo-Roman temples, chapels and a Roman house on a quite large area.
First I reconstructed the chapel. It is probably the smallest building in the complex.

It will be possible to build the chapel in the game on the forum.

You will only find the ground plans of the temples in the layout. Only one temple was partially reconstructed. In this article you can find photos of how the building looked like during the excavation [click here]. But also the University of Bern provides interesting information [click here].
In Germany you can find several reconstructed Gallo-Roman temples. A good photo can be found here [click here].
I decided to reconstruct the so-called temple 2. It is one of the bigger buildings in the complex and it stood here:

The boundary wall in Petinseca existed indeed. Not around the single temple as visualized here, but around the whole complex.
IS IT WORTH A VISIT?
For those interested in history, yes. But also for a small picnic the complex is suitable, because it is relatively large and you can discover different temples. Apart from a partially reconstructed temple wall, a few ground plans and stones that visualize the boundary wall, you can’t see much. But there exist definitely more exciting places to discover history.
There are remains of a wall nearby that I didn’t visit because I simply didn’t know that there was more to see.
